Parking, Bus & ION Information

Main Library

All library parking is controlled by the City of Waterloo.

Accessible parking is available free of charge at all times in all library parking lots. Designated accessible parking spaces are located adjacent to each library's entrance. Vehicles parking in these spaces must display a disabled person parking permit/shield as required by law.

The Pay & Display machine in the Dupont Street parking lot is cash (coins) only. The machine in the Albert Street parking lot accepts both cash (coins) and credit cards.

Dupont Street Lot

A Pay & Display machine is located beside the stone wall/column in the middle of the sheltered parking area.This machine accepts cash (coins) only.

Paid parking is in effect Monday to Friday between 9:00am and 5:00pm

You must display a Pay & Display ticket on the dashboard of your vehicle and park in the designated area.  Customers may purchase multiple hours at one time. Please read the instructions carefully to make sure you are paying the correct amount of money. The cost is $3.00 per hour.

IMPORTANT. Do not park in the “D” permit areas Monday to Friday between 9:00am and 5:00pm. These are for permit holders only. All others will be ticketed.

Free parking is available in the Dupont St lot Monday to Friday after 5:00pm and all day on weekends.
 

Albert Street Lot

A Pay & Display machine is located on the sidewalk by the entrance to the libary. This machine accepts cash (coins) as well as credit cards including Visa, Mastercard, American Express nd Discover.

Paid parking is in effect Monday to Friday between 9:00am and 5:00pm

You must display a Pay & Display ticket on the dashboard of your vehicle. Customers may purchase multiple hours at one time. Please read the instructions carefully to make sure you are paying the correct amount of money. The cost is $3.00 per hour.

Free parking is available in the Albert St lot from Monday to Friday after 5:00pm and all day on weekends.

Both the Waterloo Public Square and the Willis Way stations are an easy walk (under 10 minutes) to the Main Library. Please cross at the traffic lights for your own safety. Learn more about the ION including the schedule and fares, on the Grand River Transit website

John M. Harper Branch

Parking

Parking is always FREE at the John M. Harper Branch. There is a large lot that is shared with the YMCA.
 

Bus

  • Route 13 Laurelwood
  • Route 201 iXpress (stop at Fischer-Hallman and Columbia)

McCormick Branch

Parking

Parking is always FREE at the McCormick Branch. There are several smaller lots shared with the arena. 
 

Bus & ION

  • Route 9 Lakeshore
  • Route 301 Light Rail Transit

The Research and Technology stop is approximately a 15 minute walk from the McCormick Branch, or transfer to the Route 9 Lakeshore bus route. Learn more about the ION, including the schedule and fares, on the Grand River Transit website.

 

Eastside Branch

Parking

Parking is always FREE at the Eastside Branch. There is a large lot that is shared with RIM Park visitors.
 

Bus

  • Route 202 iXpress (stop at RIM Park)

ION

  • Stop at Conestoga Station and take the 202 iXpress to RIM Park
